The First Prophecy Revealed
An excerpt adapted from Remembering Myself

The Loom carried me deeper still, beyond land, beyond breath, to a cave hidden beneath the sea. There, in the silence of the deep, lay the answers to questions I had carried since childhood.
A fish is buoyant in the water and will perish on land. It breathes easily in its own world. Only there does it move with brilliance and grace.
A goat is made for rough terrain. It climbs, survives on little, and knows how to endure.
The Prophetess, in unlikely guise, looked to the moon and stars and told me that my abundance would not come from the world I had known. I would have to put the goat to rest and journey into the waters of the unknown.
She spoke of swimming into the depths of my own soul, of bringing back the jewels I found there, of leaving behind the life built on struggle and going instead toward mystery, creativity, and the feminine.
She gave me no map.
Only the promise that somewhere beyond the life I knew was a truer home.
She spoke of a journey where the guiding lights would flicker in the distance and I would have to move toward them without knowing how long it would take or where the path would lead.
And then she told me something else.
She told me there would be a hero.
And that I would be his queen.
I had no idea what any of it meant.
But I never forgot.
