FROM THE TEXTILE STUDIO
BUBBE MEDICINE BLANKETS
A small sanctuary, woven in cloth.
Each of these blankets carries a different kind of presence.
A different way of being held.
You will feel the one that is yours.
I have always been drawn to wrapping myself in things that feel comforting and luxurious —
creating a small sanctuary, a quiet refuge from the noise of the world.
Within that gentle enclosure something in me softens and settles, and I feel closer to mySELF —
the deeper self that lives beneath identity and personality.
The name Bubbe comes from the Yiddish word for grandmother.
To me it evokes the timeless image of a wise and loving presence —
one who knows how to create warmth, safety, and welcome simply through the care of her hands.
That image became the spirit behind these blankets.
Each Bubbe Medicine Blanket begins with one of my original paintings.
The artwork is translated into cloth, becoming a luminous textile meant to be lived with —
draped across the shoulders, wrapped around the body, or hung on the wall as living art.
Made from 100% organic cotton double gauze and finished with silk-rayon velvet trim,
each blanket carries complementary designs on both sides, allowing the piece to shift and reveal itself in different ways.
They are created with the simple knowing that every living being —
human or otherwise — needs to feel safe, loved, and welcomed in the world.
"I am instinctively drawn to wrapping myself in things
that feel comforting and luxurious —
creating a small sacred space apart from the outside world.
Within that gentle enclosure something in me softens and settles,
and I feel closer to mySELF —
the deeper self that lives beneath identity and personality."
